Abstract

This paper deals with a mean value analysis of an FDDI system with synchronous and asynchronous traffic over the whole load range. Although the analysis derived here is simple, it considers the main effects that determine the performance of the MAC protocol, which is derived in terms of throughputs of asynchronous as well as synchronous packets. Some examples are discussed, and the results are validated by detailed simulation.
