Abstract

Abstract Driven by current progress in mobile data communication systems and mobile personal digital equipment, a new type of services appears. Location-based services break with the paradigm of today's Internet, that information is equally interesting everywhere and start controlling information access addressed by location. In this article, the background of location-based services is presented and an overview about the NEXUS project of the University of Stuttgart is given. Durch die aktuellen Entwicklungen in den Bereichen der mobilen Endgerte und der mobilen Datenkommunikation wird ein neuer Typ von Anwendungen ermglicht. Ortsbezogene Anwendungen oder "Location-Based Services" brechen mit dem Paradigma heutiger Internet-Anwendungen, nach dem Informationen an jedem Ort von gleichem Interesse sind. In diesem Artikel wird der Hintergrund dieser Dienste beleuchtet und das NEXUS-Projekt der Universitt Stuttgart, welches die Entwicklung einer offenen Plattform fr ortsbezogene Dienste zum Ziel hat, vorgestellt.
