This paper deals with three techniques which can cope with the expected high demand for multiple services in future mobile communication systems. They are: the deployment of pico-cells, dynamic channel allocation (DCA), and packet reservation multiple access. We propose an admission control scheme guaranteeing quality of service in a cellular system which uses these techniques in combination. The performance of packet reservation with admission control and its superiority to circuit reservation is illustrated by simulation results.
